The PHTK rejects the « Transitional Political Agreement » resulting from the Footbridge
2 min readIn a note made public this Tuesday, November 12, 2019, the Parti Haïtien Tet Kale (PHTK) expresses its disagreement on the « Transitional Political Agreement », a document from the initiative of the Gateway in concert with several sectors of national life around the After-Jovenel. The PHTK, which claims to be committed to the democratic principles of the 1987 Constitution, once again advocates dialogue to find a solution to the crisis.
Through this note signed by Liné Balthazar, the Parti Haïtien Tet Kale categorically rejects the « Transitional Political Agreement », result of an agreement reached after 2 days of discussion between members of the opposition where a wind of division was blowing.
PHTK declares the resolutions adopted on 10 November as one more proposal with no enforceable force that is subject to political divergence and lacks the support of representatives of civil society.
The party also took the opportunity to denounce, in this press release, the fact that his name is associated with a document of which he does not share the methodology, the format or the substance.
While welcoming the unity of the opponents of the current regime, this political structure to which President Jovenel Moïse belongs is said to be attached to the respect of the constitutional provisions that require the conquest of power by « credible, peaceful and inclusive elections ».
« In a state of law, the mechanisms of renewal or replacement linked to the universal suffrage that impose themselves to all, exclude any rupture with the democratic order, by intimidation, the violence or break-in, through structures of circumstance without legitimacy, titles or qualities « , we read in this note.
PHTK, however, says it wants to work for dialogue, negotiation, consultation in order to resolve the current socio-political crisis and to establish a climate of social peace, tolerance, and political stability that the country needs.
In the meantime, the process begun by the bridge to organize the orderly departure of the Head of State is ongoing. In an interview with a media in Port-au-Prince a few hours ago, Pastor Lemaitre Zephir, spokesman for the bridge, announced the formation of a commission of 7 members whose task will be to appoint the judge of the Court of Cassation who will take the reins of the country after Jovenel Moses. The bridge is currently working on a document that will be sent to the National Palace shortly, he added.
