Former MP Arnel Belizaire rejects accusations of possession of weapons and explosive materials. At a press conference of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), Wednesday, December 4, 2019, Mr. Belizaire hinted that he was the victim of a conspiracy.

He rejects the conspiracy charges against the state’s internal security claiming he is not at war with the police. He claims his status as leader of the Opposition considering himself a prisoner of the regime of Jovenel Moses. « I am in front of Jovenel Moïse », hammered Mr. Belizaire assuring that he does not need guns for his political fight.

This former soldier has a martial tone called for the continuation of the mobilization against the head of state. He hopes that the overthrow of President Moïse will allow him to be cleared of the charges of possession of weapons. The former deputy of Delmas calls the opposition activists to continue the struggle until the departure of President Moïse. « We must continue the fight », he says recalling that he fights for the conquest of power.

Belizaire and seven other accomplices were arrested in Jacmel last weekend. Police spokesman Michael Ange Louis Jeune said the group had 9 firearms, including 4 large caliber, 950 ammunition, fragmentation grenades and tear gas.

He suggested that other individuals were arrested as part of the ongoing investigation. The investigators of the DCPJ would have found clues that would allow to launch a legal procedure.
