Launch of a workshop on Strengthening the Governance of the Cultural Sector and Communication in Haiti
2 min readThe Ministry of Culture and Communication (MCC) launched this Monday, December 2, 2019, the second « workshop to strengthen the governance of the cultural and communication sector in Haiti: strengthen the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Communication « , for 25 executives of the Ministry and the Autonomous Organizations.
Mr. Pradel Henriquez, Cabinet Director of the Minister of Culture and Communication, proceeded to launch this activity at the Olivia room of the Montana Hotel, in the presence of the Regional Director of OIF, Emmanuel Adjovi, participants and members of the press.
According to Mr. Henriquez, it is urgent for the Ministry to work to strengthen the capacities of cultural operators, the managers of the Institution in order to equip them more, since they are the main architects of the development and implementation policies and strategic plans in the cultural sector.
For his part, the Regional Director of OIF, Emmanuel Adjovi, renews his commitment to support the efforts of the State in the implementation of cultural policies and industries in the digital age.
Francisco d’Almeida believes it is important for cultural actors to strengthen Haiti’s cultural industries in order to help create wealth and create jobs. He takes this opportunity to elaborate on the concept Cultural Industries. According to him, cultural industry refers to: the use of technical means to produce a cultural work. « So we enter a production chain of cultural values and this involves the creation, production, dissemination and enjoyment of consumers, » he says.
It should be noted that this workshop covers a week and its objective is to address the issue of cultural industries, strengthen the skills of executives within the institution and develop the vision of culture as a lever for rehabilitation of the national identity and economic development.
