LIHFER demands justice and reparation for raped women in Haiti

In recent months, because of social and political unrest, violence is omnipresent in the lives of many Haitians. Faced with this situation, women and girls appear most vulnerable and remain the prey of bandits who use them as a sexual object. The Haitian Women’s League for Renewal (LIHFER) demands justice and reparation for raped women, including women prisoners in Gonaïve’s civil prison.

The Haitian League of Women for Renewal (LIHFER), faced with the various cases of rape, comes out of its silence to denounce the absence of the State while demanding that the national and international community take diligent measures to ensure that acts of violence cease in the country.

In this sense, According to this structure, « In Haiti today the situation is worrying. The cases of gang rapes on women in Gonaives on the night of November 6, the case of the 17 – year – old girl also raped because of the malfunctioning of the judiciary outrages us more. The situation of pregnant women who die with their babies because of the barricades they have not managed to cross. Others die by gunshots while peacefully going about their activities ».

In addition, LIHFER is seeking justice and reparation for the raped prisoners and urgent release of the 17-year-old raped girl. Adds to that, a separation of prisoners is necessary.
